Plan to Recruit Domestic Help From Cambodia, Ivory Coast, Mali [May 30]
“In the wake of a hike in the cost of recruitment from Indonesia, the National Committee for Recruitment at the Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, has left for Cambodia to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to hire domestic workers from that country. It is also plans to sign another MoU in this regard with the Ivory Coast. Saad Al-Baddah, Chairman of the National Committee for Recruitment, added that the committee has received an invitation from Mali for a visit yet to be determined. This is also to discuss recruitment of workers, especially house helpers. He said there was no reason for the increase in recruitment fees from Indonesia. Saudis Invest Heavily in Ethiopian Farm Sector [May 30]
“Saudi trade and investment in Ethiopia is expanding. ‘The investment increase is particularly seen in the agricultural sector and is in line with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah’s initiative to provide food security for the Kingdom. Agricultural lands being leased by Saudis have been increasing by the day in Ethiopia,’ Ethiopian Consul General Tekleab Kebede told the community at the country’s national day celebrations at the consulate over the weekend. Kebede said many Saudis and local companies had been signing contracts with landowners across Ethiopia to produce grains and other agricultural products. ‘Rice produced by a prominent Saudi company was presented to the king recently,’ he said. In recent years, the sale of vehicles with four-cylinder engines has witnessed noticeable improvement. This trend toward quality built-smaller cars and smaller engines with high feature content and loads of character looks bright. Industry leaders forecast an upturn in demand for small cars in Saudi Arabia, which represents only 6-8 percent of the total car market in the Kingdom at present.
